Staying Dry

We were able to stay dry last week! It looked like there was going to be thunder showers on Wednesday night and Thursday, so Wed. I got back up on the roof and finished things up. Turns out we didn't get any rain Wed. or Thurs. Oh well, it felt good to have the roof sealed up anyway.

Friday our windows were delivered and we started putting the stucco wrap on the house, but didn't get very far.

Saturday we woke up to rain. How disappointing! My grandpa came over to help and we worked the morning in the rain getting a lot of the house wrapped up. It was pretty miserable work in the rain. We were working close to the walls and since we don't have any gutters on the house all the rain was running off right onto our backs. By 11:30 I was soaked and ready to quit for the day. We decided to break for lunch, dry off and see what the weather would do.

Fortunately by the time we were done with lunch there was only the slightest sprinkle and occasional drip off of the roof so we decided to get back to work and see how long the weather would hold out. Turns out that was the end of the rain and we got the rest of the house wrapped and all except one of the windows installed. We purposely left the large window to the bedroom addition out. We are going to have the sheetrock delivered first so we can bring it in through that window. That will be much easier than carrying it through the house!

So this week we're working on calculating what we need for the next stage which is rough electrical and plumbing. We also need to calculate the sheetrock so we can have that delivered and get the last window in. Then we will be weather tight!
