So, I haven't updated you in a while because there are no new or exciting pictures to show.
The last few weeks have been getting little things done to facilitate moving completely into the kitchen. Things like caulking the joint between the tile backsplash and the counter top, hooking up the hot water to the new plumbing in the kitchen, getting all the shelves set-up in the cabinets, etc. Plus we had a farewell extravaganza for our worship pastor. It was more of an evening of live music at the Little Fox theater in downtown Redwood City and we were part of the live music. At the time that we started our house project I stepped out of an active role in our Sunday night worship band as well as playing in the Matt Nightingale Band. Last week I got to be a part of both of these bands again for this last farewell and it was a lot of fun and very refreshing. I certainly miss some of these things that we have chosen to say "no" to for this season of our house remodel.
Anyway, we did make some progress on the house yesterday, though. We had our panel inspection... again. We didn't really change anything and it was the same inspector we had last time and he passed us without hardly a question. I think he might be new. Last time he didn't pass our panel because he didn't think PG&E would like it, not because of any code violation. He gave me a list of things he didn't think was right and told me to look it up in PG&E's "Green Book". I did this and there was nothing in there that supported his objections. He must have gone back and looked it up too.
We are moving ahead with getting the stucco going on the outside of the house. We have to make the old stucco such that they can tie into it. This involves breaking (not cutting) the old stucco and getting it out of the chicken wire so the old wire can be tied to the new wire. We also have to get the new paper under the old paper to create a good water drainage plane. Finally we need to trim out the crawlspace openings.
Hopefully this weekend we will be putting up the stucco wire so we can work on finding a sub-contractor to do the stucco. If you know of anyone you recommend let us know so we can contact them for a bid. Also, if the weather is making you want to spend some more time outside, we could use a few helpers on Saturday to put up the stucco wire.
